Fuel Surcharge
Changes in fuel prices have resulted in increased overall costs for the transport industry, necessitating the introduction of a variable fuel surcharge which may rise, fall or be removed to align with movements in fuel prices.
Based on the May 2010 Oil Bulletin value of £1,207.56 per 1000 litres, the fuel surcharge for shipments sent in July is 5.5%.
Based on the June 2010 Oil Bulletin value of £1,203.80 per 1000 litres, the August 2010 fuel surcharge will be 5.5%.
Since 1st August 2004 DHL has operated a variable fuel surcharge applicable to its DHL DOMESTIC EXPRESS, DHL PRIORITY 10:00, DHL PRIORITY 12:00, DHL SATURDAY, Day Definite Domestic and Day Definite International services. Details of the surcharge will be updated each month on this site.
DHL adjusts the surcharge in line with the most suitable measure of diesel prices. The surcharge is linked to the consumer price in Sterling (GBP) of diesel fuel inclusive of duties and taxes, as measured by the European Commission Directorate General for Energy and Transport and published in the View updated diesel fuel pricesOil Bulletin

The surcharge will be based on the diesel price from the last week of the month two months prior to the month in question. For example, the June 2009 fuel surcharge is based on the April diesel price as at 27/04/2009.

Due to the continuing rise of fuel prices DHL has found it necessary to implement a fuel surcharge.
A flexible surcharge took effect from 1 December 2002 and the surcharge will rise, fall or be removed in line with movements in fuel prices (see table below). Details of the surcharge will be updated each month on this site.
The aviation fuel surcharge will apply to the net invoiced amount of all Time Definite International shipments, covering export and import shipments via DHL EXPRESS WORLDWIDE, DHL EXPRESS 9.00 and DHL EXPRESS 12.00, and all domestic shipments via DHL EXPRESS 9:00 and DHL EXPRESS 12:00. Note: There will be a 1 month lag in the application of the index. For example, the monthly average price for fuel in October 2008 is used to determine the applicable surcharge for December 2008. This is due to the release dates of the data.
