Air Express Fuel Surcharge
The aviation fuel surcharge for shipments sent in November is 17%. Based on the Rotterdam ARA jet fuel index for October 2008 of 236.58 US cents per gallon, the December 2008 fuel surcharge will be 14%.
Due to the continuing rise of fuel prices DHL has found it necessary to implement a fuel surcharge.
A flexible surcharge took effect from 1 December 2002 and the surcharge will rise, fall or be removed in line with movements in fuel prices (see table below). Details of the surcharge will be updated each month on this site.
The aviation fuel surcharge will apply to the net invoiced amount of all Time Definite International shipments, covering export and import shipments via DHL EXPRESS WORLDWIDE, DHL EXPRESS 9.00 (10:30 US only) and DHL EXPRESS 12, and all domestic shipments via DHL DOMESTIC EXPRESS 9:00 and DHL DOMESTIC EXPRESS 12:00. The surcharge will be based on themonthly average spot prices for Kerosene/jet fuel (Rotterdam ARA), as published by the US Department of Energy (www.eia.doe.gov). Prices are expressed in (USD) cents per US gallon.

Note: There will be a 1 month lag in the application of the index. For example, the monthly average price for fuel in October 2005 will be used to determine the applicable surcharge in December 2005. This is due to the release dates of the data.
DHL reserves the right to change the fuel surcharge index and table with or without notice. Both the amount and duration of the surcharge will be determined at DHL's sole discretion.
