DHL Express Scoops Prestigious International Award for Second Year

Employees at DHL Express are celebrating after the company scooped the International Express Operator of the Year Award at the International Freighting Weekly annual awards for the second year running. These prestigious awards, which are tipped as the Oscars of the distribution world, celebrate achievements across all sectors of the freighting industry.

DHL's international capability, customer service and strong leadership in value-added solutions were recognised, setting the company apart from its competitors as International Express Operator of the Year 2006. DHL was nominated by IFW readers and then awarded the prestigious accolade by a panel of independent industry experts.

This year DHL launched a second day 12 noon service, Midday Express, for non-dutiable shipments from Europe to major cities and business centers in 10 Asia Pacific countries. An even faster Start-Day Express service, offering delivery before 9am, is available to Hong Kong, Malina, Singapore Bangkok and Taipei. Within Europe, the two-timed definite services now cover 72% of business addresses.

Commenting on DHL's win Martin Roebuck, Editor of International Freighting Weekly said, "DHL has shown unrivalled network coverage in the UK and across the world and has proven its ability to meet performance targets for a range of customers."

Companies entering the International Express Operator of the Year Award needed to illustrate the following to judges: international capability, flexible and innovative responses to customers’ needs, proven ability to meet performance targets as well as a differentiation of products from those of competitors.

Tim Brown, Sales and Marketing Director from DHL said, "We are thrilled to win this award for the second year running, it is a real honour. With the largest wholly owned and operated express network both in the UK and across the world, DHL continually strives to meet and exceed customer needs and expectations".
