DHL rewrites the rules for distribution in the publishing sector
DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, has capitalised on the strength of its different business units to develop a collaborative approach to the supply-chain and express distribution requirements of the print and publishing industry. Making the most of the resources and expertise within, DHL has created a dedicated team of experts that understand every aspect of the publishing industry and can offer an integrated start-to-finish solution to customers.
DHL is the only logistics company to offer a fully integrated service from start to finish and already delivers supply chain and express distribution solutions to 17 of the UK's top 20 publishing houses. This solution offers real cost benefits to customers - improving their competitiveness through a faster and more efficient service coordinated by one company.
The UK publishing industry has undergone a period of great change recently - from the increased threat of globalisation, through to the speed of adoption of new technologies, the industry can't afford to stand still. The internet has meant that people across the world can access information immediately, while the rise of e-tailing, coupled with supermarkets developing real power as publishers, means that competition has never been fiercer.
Tim Brown, Sales and Marketing Director DHL Express UK, said: "The publishing industry presents an exciting opportunity for DHL as we are uniquely placed to provide solutions at every step of the supply chain, from the shipment of pulp, through to delivery of the book to the customer. We are the only express and logistics company to offer this type of service and we anticipate using this publishing industry model as a blueprint for developing complete supply chain solutions across a range of sectors."
To demonstrate their commitment to the industry and in time for the London Book Fair, DHL has published its own book to showcase its credentials in delivering tailored, cost effective and efficient supply chain and distribution solutions for the publishing industry. DHL is also a key exhibitor at the London Book Fair, taking place at Earls Court from the 16-18th April, 2007.
